I have just got a new book on BRENTFORD - Fantastic !!!
It is called
The Archive Photographs Series - BRENTFORD
compiled by Carolyn and Peter Hammond
It was priced at £9.99 and worth it.
Was obtainable from Brentford Library or
Printed by Tempus Publishing Ltd
The Mill, Brimscombe Port,
Gloucestershire. GL5. 2QC.

I have just got another new book
on BRENTFORD - also Fantastic
It is called
The History of The Great West Road
Factories on the Great West Road - photographs & history
compiled by James Marshall, A.L.A
Supplied by Heritage Publications
Hounslow Leisure Services

Did you know that the Great West Road
was first discussed in the year 1807 ?

John Middleton' View on the Agriculture of Middlesex 1807 went
straight to the heart of the problem.

"HISTORY Of THE OLD
BRENTFORD FIRE STATION"
Information taken from
"Fire ! 300 Years of Firefighting in Brentford"
by Diana Willment,
published 2002 by Dandelion Publications.
See:-
"History of the Old Brentford Fire Station"

"The carridge way through Brentford is particularly bad:
the street is much too narrow, does not admit of being widened
and is always filthy. It is suppossed that a new road might be
made to pass on the north side of the town in such a manner as
to avoid being offended by it; at least this might be done at
less expense than might be necessary to widen and improve the
present (High) street"

Also contains a lot of information on the history of the Town etc.

Also of interest are Ordinance Survey Maps
showing Brentford in the days of 1894
and contains lots of info. You can get
these from Chiswick Library, who also
have lots of old photos, Maps etc.

I found the staff at Chiswick Library very helpful
and I would like to thank them very much for
their assistance.
