Sonora Dodd, of Washington first had the idea
of a "Father's Day. She thought of the idea for
Father's day while listening to a Mother's day
sermon in 1909. American President Calvin Coolidge
in 1924 supported the idea of a National Father's Day. Then in 1966 President Lyndon
Johnson signed a Presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday of June as Father's Day.

A loving tribute to my late dad Edward William Holland 2/6/04 - 27/09/75 On Father's Day

God picked you out from all the rest because he knew, you would be the best He picked just you and I am glad you were the one to be my dad He knew I would need someone strong to guide me through my life along God knew your patient tender love and sent you me from heaven above

He knew you had a lions heart and all your qualities, from the start
God knew like a giant you stood tall, so sent you me a babe so small
Since then I failed so many times and had not heeded, to life's lines
My path had been so wild and mad I had often left you hurt and sad

Yet you offered me a fathers love you did not fail, was I failed you
And still a fathers love shone through, yes to pull me through my life along
God knew it needed someone strong so he chose you from all the rest
And God was right, you were the best. God bless you dad.

I hope you enjoy the rest
