"THE NAVY BLUE WILSON COACH BUILT PRAM"

It is the month of September and already the nights are drawing in the curtains are being drawn earlier and I went in to my cupboard and have brought out the fir cones from last year and I have arranged them neatly in my fire place I gathered a few branches that have fallen from the trees and brought a few fairy lights out of their box and arranged them on the branches which are now standing in a big glass container with the lights inside the container as well it, looks so nice with the lights shining against the dark. This month has brought such good news for me, as I have become a granny for the seventh time to a beautiful granddaughter born on my birthday what a wonderful surprise. It made me think about my first daughter when she was born I wanting a big coach built pram for my baby daughter and strange as it is when I was a little girl I had a navy blue coach built dolls pram that I loved to take out when I went shopping with my mother there was a little silver tray underneath it where we would put a few bit's of spare shopping into it. I also love to take the little kitten's out for a walk in the pram It gave Ally the mother cat a rest from her kitten's for a bit but when she had them back she used to spend a lot of time licking them clean and I used to watch her licking her kitten's and often wondered what she was thinking about me taking them out for a walk and giving her a well earned rest from her kitten's But when I grow up I then realised that she didn't approve of me kitten sitting for her at the time. So when I found out I was expecting my first baby I just wanted a big coach built pram and in the late sixties they were in fashion so when my daughter was two days old I went to a well known pram store and after looking at all the makes and models of pram's I fall in love with a big navy blue Wilson pram it was just like a Rolls Royce It was really a big pram with two big coach wheels and two small wheels in the front there was leather straps on all four springs and all the silver trimmings shone so brightly and the hard body work had a thin white stripe all a round it and the hard body work polished up so well with a clean cloth. polish and a bit of elbow grease. The inside of the pram the middle come out so that the baby could put its feet down in to the hole I paid £40 for it and it was a very expensive price to pay in those days and arranged deliverer for next day. When the pram arrived the deliveryman unloaded the pram and it went in to the front door alright but it would not go in to the other rooms in Greet Rd as the doorways were narrow so we had to put my beautiful pram that cost me the earth in the old scullery where the sink and cooker was so I had to cover it up with a cover to keep it nice My sister Nora is very short so when she ask if she could take my new baby and pram out for a walk I said yes and being winter time she had the shade up and couldn't see over the top and pushing the pram along Brentford High St she suddenly thought how heavy it had become to push and just then the owner of the furniture shop came running out after her and said you are taking my armchair with you and sure enough there was the armchair in front of the pram the furniture shop always had the furniture outside their shop so good job that I am a tall person so that I could see quite well over the top of the shade when it was up. I had the pram for three years and didn't know that I was going to have two more daughter's so I gave it to a lady in our road with six children which I know would have a good use for it and afterwards it ended up with an old tramp pushing it around Brentford it look so sad all the paint work had loads of scratches on it and big dents everywhere on the body of the pram odd wheels and it broke my heart to finely see it burned on the rubbish dump what a sad ending to a beautiful pram.
