Latest Story from Janis entitled

"A walk through Carville Hall Park"

It is a nice sunny afternoon and nothing more nicer then a walk through Carville Hall Park with
my two little Scottie's. Strange enough I haven't been through Carville Hall park for a long time.
Again there are a few changes from the past as I walk through the gates The first thing I noticed
was a lovely play area for the children, which has been done very nicely, and there was a space
where the girls and boys toilets used to stand. I remembered the old house at the park gate that
used to have a lovely little garden attach to it I believe the park keeper used to be called a
Mr Bird and he lived there with his family.

The trees are over grown because they have made a nature part now in the park. As I turn the
corner just where the big house is I notice the stature of the big white lion was missing. When I
was small I used to sit on his back and imagine that I was riding him through a jungle because
around him was four big high pink marble stone pillars covered with Honey Suckle .He looked so
handsome and brave and I always thought that he looked as if he was protecting that big old
house. I spent a lot of my summer day's there with him. It looked so lonely without him
standing there. I pleaded with my mum at the time to get me a stature of a big white lion
in our back garden but one never arrived. There was once a lovely little bench underneath
the conker tree's near the gate of the Great west Rd entrance Autumn time I used to sit
under the tree with my niece Pearl and we would wait for the conker's to fall and they
just seem to drop in our lap's. If it happen to be a windy day we would collect a few conkers
also over near the wall where the railway line is there are a couple of Walnut tree's where we
used to collect quite a few Walnuts they were tasty and so fresh that it spoiled us from
buying them in the shops.

I used to take my three daughters' to the park when they were small and we got a lot of
enjoyment feeding the ducks and the geese in the pond but sadly there wasn't many ducks
or geese here today as I walked past. I am sorry to say that the old park didn't feel
the same any more.
