CORNER OF
CATHERINE WHEEL YARD

AS IT WAS
and
AS IT IS NOW

photograph of Looking west from Catherine Yard as it was
Looking west from Catherine Yard, situated on the extreme left. Next door was the Barley Corn, a beer house owned by Sich's brewery and then Edward Jones, stationer, followed by Alfred Hawthorne, chemist and druggist. The large building to the right was the London and County Bank, rebuilt in 1929, which later became the Westminster Bank and is now known as the National Westminster Bank.

The Bank is still there although the rest
of the parade of shops has altered for the
better I think.
