HALF ACRE
AS IT WAS
and
AS IT IS NOW

photograph of Half-Acre as it was
The Half Acre, looking east to the junction of
High Street and Boston Road. The building at the junction is the Bee Hive Inn, which is still there today. Some of the buildings I
remember were:- opposite the Bee Hive, on
the north side, looking west, was The National
Provicial Bank, next was David Greigs, grocers
and Joe Pink, Pie and Eel Shop. The buildings
along side the Bee Hive and from the Half-Acre were demolished and a Supermarket was built.

All of the old buildings were demolished (These
were mainly built of wood) and rebuilt away
from the road and therefore making it wider.
