THE DRUM INN
17th CENTURY
AS IT WAS,
and
AS IT IS NOW

photograph of The Drum Inn as it was
The Drum Inn was situated on the Eastern side of the junction of Ealing Road with the High Street. The building, dating from the seventeenth century, was altered in 1908 and demolished in 1921. The Red Lion opened in 1965 on the adjacent site. Ealing Road was originally called Drum Lane at this point, and Ealing Lane to the north.

My memories of the corner of Ealing Road and the High Street, there was The Red Lion Pub on the west of Ealing Rd and a row of shops on the north side of High street and a plain wall on the east side of Ealing road. They knocked down the Old red Lion and later built a more modern styled Pub on the east side when the shops were demolished for the widening og the High Street. There is now a McDonald's.
