THE RIVER THAMES - WEST
AS IT WAS
and
AS IT IS NOW

The River thames looking west from Kew Bridge,
with Brentford and Lots Ait in the centre. On the
bank can be seen one of the many sailing barges
that carried goods up river as far as Isleworth.
This photograph was taken prior to 1887 as the
cupula of the first St.George's Church stands
out in the distance.

The Old River Thames has not changed much over
the last 100 years or so.
