BRENTFORD DOCK
AS IT WAS
and
AS IT IS NOW

Brentford Dock c.1911, seen from the Surrey bank
of the River Thames. The warehouses were erected
for the Great Western Railway Company early the
twentieth century and demolised when the Docks
closed in 1964, The Brentford Dock Estate, now
occupies this site. The Area, known as 'Old
England', has over the centuries revealed late
Bronze Age weapons, tools and decorative items.

Today, 15th July 2000, it looks much nicer than
the earlier photo, but a lot of people lost their
jobs with the closure of the Docks. This has
happened at a lot of places in Brentford as
modernisation takes over
