Story from Janis
entitled
"POINSETTIA"

Poinsettia

Just before Christmas I always treat myself to a poinsettia.
With its scarlet bracts and dark green leaves it looks well
on my sitting-room table and helps to create the right mood
for my Christmas decorating. Of all the plants available at
Christmas, it is probably the most popular. It originates from
Mexico. There is a lovely legend about the poinsettia. On
Christmas Eve it was the custom for all the children of the
village to take a bunch of flowers to place at the crib of
the Christ Child. However, one little girl was so poor that
she had no flowers to offer, and so she sat by the roadside
weeping. Suddenly, an angel appeared at her side, and finding
out the cause of the child's unhappiness, told her to pick a
bunch of grasses from the wayside and take them to the church,
Drying her eyes the girl did as she was bid, and as she placed
her gift in front of the crib, the grass was transformed into
the most beautiful bunch of poinsettias.
As I say, it is just a legend, yet it is still true that when faith
and love combine at Christmas very special things can happen.
A very happy Christmas to you !
